Nestling/Fledgeling Garden Birds

A Kind Request from Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue

Each year, Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue provides care for hundreds of wild birds. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously, and we never want to turn any animal away. However, we’d like to let our community know that, with much regret, we are currently unable to admit baby garden birds this season.

This difficult decision is due to a shortage of trained volunteers who can meet the very specific and demanding needs of these delicate birds—many of whom require feeding as often as every 15 minutes from early morning until evening. Most of our dedicated team balance full-time jobs alongside their voluntary work, and at present, we simply do not have the capacity to provide the round-the-clock care these birds need and deserve.

Please rest assured that we are still admitting all other bird species and remain committed to helping as many as we can.

Fortunately, there are several brilliant rescues in the area who are currently able to care for baby garden birds:

  • Wild Things – Langrick – 01526 578579

  • The Wildlife Alliance – Hull & East Yorkshire – 01482 765361

  • Laxey House Bird Rescue – Scunthorpe

  • Humberside Swift and Small Bird Rescue – Anlaby/Barton – 01482 765173

  • RSPCA – 0300 1234 999

We know how much people care and want to help, and we are truly grateful for your continued support. Please remember that we are a small, entirely volunteer-run rescue. Every one of our team members gives their time freely and does their absolute best to help wildlife in need. We kindly ask that all messages and calls to our team are respectful—without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to provide help to the hundreds of injured and sick animals we support each year.

Thank you for your understanding and compassion. Together, we can still make a real difference for our local wildlife. 🐦💚
